Meet the Staff
Continuity of staff is key for any camp. Our leadership team boasts 50 years of Netop experience and 90 percent of our essential staff are returns from a previous summer at Netop. Counselors are carefully selected based on their character, commitment and ability to serve as positive role models and work hand-in-hand with directors during the summer to plan and carry out the program. Our leadership model provides just the right balance of experience, enthusiasm and counselor engagement to keep the program fresh and our staff coming back year after year.

Steve Hallowell, Owner/Director
Steve began his Netop experience back in 1968. He spent 10 summers: 6 as a camper, 4 as a staff member. After spending 25 years in business, Steve and his wife Beth assumed ownership of the camp in 2005 with their three children: Tim, Andrew, and Sarah. Netop had a strong positive impact on Steve growing up and he enjoys providing that same life experience to new generations of campers. Steve was raised in the Philadelphia area and lives in Maple Glen, PA with his family during the off season. Steve attained a B.S. degree from Washington & Lee University and a Masters degree from Babson College.
Mike Griffin, Assistant Director – Programs & Waterfront
Mike first joined Netop in 1977. He attended for 9 straight summers: 3 as a camper, 6 as a staff member. In 2005, Mike, his wife Janet, and their three children: Conor, Jake and Grace re-joined the Netop family once more when Mike assumed responsibility for much of the sports program at camp, including inter-camp events. During the off season Mike teaches science at Gray-New Gloucester HS in Gray, Maine. Mike grew up in the Philadelphia area and now resides in Yarmouth, ME with his family. Mike received his B.S. degree from Ursinus College and Masters degree from Springfield College.
Nurse Team
Netop has a team of nurses that oversee and manage all health and wellness issues at camp. Their focus is to ensure that each camper and staff member stay healthy during camp, while receiving professional care and treatment when needed. Beth Hallowell is a certified school nurse at an elementary school outside of Philadelphia. Mary Tobin is a nursing professor (Ph.D) at Coe College and Mimi Gallo is a nurse practitioner at a hospital in Boston, MA.
Jon Carlson, Director of Food Services
Jon has been Netop’s head of food program since 2007. He ensures that all Netop campers and staff maintain a healthy and balanced diet at camp. Jon supervises other Netop kitchen personnel and manages all food ordering and meal planning. During the school year, Jon manages the food operations for the school district in the Cumberland/Yarmouth, ME area. He and his family reside in Casco, ME. Jon attended the University of Southern Maine.
